Rumors on a possible Linkedin violation of Data Protection

I’m a happy Linkedin user and find interesting the news that Microsoft acquired it; they can make a good couple. And I think it can be a strategic partnership with benefits both for the two companies and for the users.

That said, I think all companies should stay ahead of the rules, and tech giants as well, like Linkedin is.

Wine 3.0 released, it’ll bring Windows Apps to your Android device

On January the 18th it was released a new stable release of Wine, the 3.0. The original meaning of the recursive acronym is “Wine Is Not an Emulator”.

So Wine, instead of emulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator such as VirtualBox do (remember that a virtual machine is like a full operating system inside another) translates Windows API calls to Android API calls on-the-fly, reducing the performance and memory penalties of other methods.

Discovered a bug in Chromecast that causes routers malfunction

If in recent times your modem/router has given signs of instability, before replacing it, try disconnecting your Chromecast first!

The issue could be due to an unspecified defect either on Chromecast or Google Home. Most likely Google Home, the App that controls it. A TP-Link engineer has posted an explanation of the problem that first popped out in questions around the last year’s October.

It is not a very serious malfunction, but equally capable of putting in difficulty many famous modems/routers like TP-Link, Synology, Asus, Linksys and Netgear in particular, among others.

Depending on your modem/router brand it could cause a temporary internet disconnection, or even a permanent unavailability of the network, until a complete reset.
